Tinagaktak Festival
The Tinagaktak Festival is a religious celebration in Buenavista every July 25th in reverence to Saint James "the Great." It is a profound dramatization of St. James the Great, featuring his apparition and miraculous defense while riding a horse and carrying a sword during the Battle of Covadonga, where he fought against the Muslim invaders, leading to the triumph of the Catholic faith.
"Tinagaktak" comes from the Bisaya term "Tagaktak", which simply means the beat of the galloping horse. It serves as a rhythm of hope for those who are suffering and a sound of faith, signaling that help is on the way.
